Come to an end

In January 11th, I saw a news on Twitter. The headline of this news was “Twins Re-Sign Carlos Correa". He has agreed to a new six-year, $200MM contract with the Twins, which does not have any opt-outs, though he will receive a full no-trade clause. In last December 13th, San Francisco Giants was agreement with him on a 13-year, $350MM contract, however this contract went bankrupt due to the condition of his right ankle. After that, In December 21th, he has agreed to join the Mets for a 12-year, $315MM contract. However, after a few days, When he underwent physical check, the Mets hired a doctor, who was the same as the San Francisco hired. Of course, the Mets also had concern about his ankle, and the Mets began to find out a compromise of the contract. But Scott Boras, who is a agent of Correa, got angry about why the Mets hired the doctor same as the San Francisco, so the formal decision ran into difficulties. In addition, the Twins joined the scramble, as a result, the last offe...

New Ground

In January 11, The Athletics have agreed to a one-year contract with right-hander Shintaro Fujinami, according to ESPN's Jeff passan. He was posted by the Hanshin Tigers of Nippon Professional Baseball on December 1 last year. He was the same class as Shohei Ohtani and stepping from high school ball into the Tigers' rotation and pitching to a 2.75 ERA in 137 2/3 innings as a 19-year old rookie starter. After the rookie season, he kept up the great performance for 3 seasons. As a result, he bacame a young ace of the Tigers. However, he struggled from 2017 to 2021 season due to control issue. Although, the 2022 season, he made 10 starts and six appearances with Tigers, pitching to a 3.38 ERA in 66 2/3 innings. In addition, his walk rate turned 7.6%, which was the first time since 2016 he is posted a walk rate under 10%. A lot of japanese baseball fans expect that he will not be active in MLB, however I think that "how many starters can pitch over 100 mph fastball and split ...

What happened?

Last week, I wrote a blog about the transfer which San Francisco Giants signed Carlos Correa.  However, a few hours before press conferance begins, the interview were postponed because the giants found a problem of his body by medical check. In addition, a few hours after the announcement, Correa has agreed to join the New York Mets for a 12-year, $315MM contract and the deal of the Giants fell through, according to Jon Heyman, a reporter of New York Post. According to some articles, the Giants tried to continue to negotiate with him after the detection of his physical problem, but Scott Boras, who is an agent of Correa, didn't listen to it. Then, Boras has already communicated with Steven Cohen, who is an owner of New York Mets, about acquiring Correa. Cohen decided to acuire him when he heard the news from Boras. As a result, this mega deal occured. I was shocked when I saw the news on Twitter, however I have one good thing about it. This thing is that Francisco Lindor and...

One Heel

Yesterday, I saw a big news about MLB on Twitter. The news is that San Francisco Giants is reportedly in agreement with Carlos Correa on a 13-year, $350MM contract. It is the second-biggest free agent deal of all-time, just narrow below the $360MM deal that Aaron Judge signed a week ago. I explain about Correa. Correa, who is a star shortstop and turned 28 in September, performed .291AVG / .366OBP / .467SLG / .833OPS ,batting line with 22 home runs and 64 RBI this season. Nevertheless, I think that he is a star player, but he is hated by a lot of MLB fans because of a scandal. The scandal is "sign stealing" which was done by Houston Astros from 2017 to 2019. At that time, Correa was the central player on Astros, therefore he and his teammates got a lot of bashing from a lot of fans when it was discovered. However, he is not sorry for the scandal, in fact, he have replyed with incitement when opponent fans booed. From the kind of thing, he completely became a MLB's heel r...

Big Contract

Today, MLB got excited about a topic. Texas Rangers signed ace right-hander Jacob deGrom to a five-year free-agent contract. The deal will pay deGrom $185 million. deGrom, 34, is one of the greatest pitchers of his generation, a two-time National League Cy Young Award winner when he played for the New York Mets. I would like to expess my feelings about this contract. I thought that Rangers really wanted an elete starting pitcher. This season, Rangers ended 4th in AL west. As one of the causes, starting pitchers' ERA is 4.63(25th in MLB). So, for the Rangers who want to compete from next season onwards, deGrom must have been wanted as an ace pitcher. This strong feeling was read from the term of this contract. In fact, deGrom has not pitched a full Major League season since 2019 because of repeated injuries. In addition, next season is his age-35 season. So, his performance may be down or he may not be able to pitch throughout the season due to injuries. Nevertheless, Rangers decid...

New Core Of Batting Lineup

Post-season ended,MLB entered the stove league. I am looking forward everyday to happening some big transfers. Espeially, I am paying attention to the move of Seattle Mariners. In November 16th, Mariners got moveing at once. Mariners accuired All-Star right fielder Teoscar Hernandez from the Blu Jays in exchange for set up man Erik Swanson and pitching prospect Adam Macko by trade. Teoscar, who turned 30 years old a month ago, will give the Mariners a heart of the order slugger. He performed .267AVG /.316OBP /.491SLG /.807OPS, batting line with 25 home runs and 77 RBI and 129 wRC+ this season. This trade has some benefits. I explain three benefits of this trade. First, His performance is stable. He performed .283AVG /.333OBP /.519SLG/.852OPS batting line with 73 home runs and 71 doubles through 1337 plate appearances over the past three seasons. Mitch Haniger, who was a right fielder this season in Mariners, may be leaving the Mariners by FA. So, Teoscar will be able to take Hani...

This Monday

This time, I will write about this Monday happening. On Monday, I always go to university from English speaking course on 5th period, so I can sleep in every Monday. Of course, I slept in and got up at about 9am this Monday. When I go to university from 5th period, I always leave home at 11:30am because I go to university from Hyogo by conventional train and bullet train. At 11:10am, I prepared for going to university and made sure whether the train which I will take was delayed or not. However, the moment I checked it, I was surprised that the trains were stopped due to an accident. I knew that the trains(JR Kobe Line) are often delayed due to an accident and stopped due to an accident last Thursday. So, I could not expect that an acident happened. Beacuse of it, I could not move from the closest station and had to wait for about one hour and 30 minutes. In the end, I was absent from the class of 5th period because I arrived at university at 14:30. In November, three accident occ...
